In the 1760s, the building of Catholic
chapels in private houses was still officially
forbidden, so Bryant Barrett added his Chapel
discreetly, just above the Library. Then, as now, you
would not know that there was a Chapel there if you
stood in front of the House…
Milton Manor House in Oxfordshire is a jewel in the
catalogue of English country houses. In its Chapel you
will have the chance to hear the story of Milton
Manor House told through the music of Henry
Purcell, John Stanley, George Frederic Handel,
William Boyce and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
